Child-Safeguarding Policy

Christ D’Rock Film Institute Worldwide is committed to providing learning, production, screening, and online environments in which every child and young person is treated with dignity, protected from harm, and able to participate safely. In this policy, a child is anyone under 18.
1. Our commitments
- The welfare and best interests of the child come first.
- Every child has equal protection regardless of sex, disability, ethnicity, nationality, faith, economic background, or other status.
- Concerns will be heard, recorded, and acted upon promptly and respectfully.
- Safeguarding information will be shared only with people who need it to protect the child or meet legal duties.
2. Consent and participation
Training or production involving a child requires appropriate parent or guardian consent and accurate emergency contact information. The Institute will explain the activity, schedule, supervision, travel, filming, and intended use of images or recordings in an age-appropriate way. A child’s willingness to participate must also be respected.
3. Safe conduct
Staff, volunteers, facilitators, contractors, and partners must maintain professional boundaries. They must not use humiliating punishment, sexualised conduct, harassment, intimidation, favouritism, exploitative relationships, or private communications that bypass approved safeguarding arrangements. One-to-one activity should be observable, interruptible, and authorised.
4. Images, filming, and stories
We seek appropriate consent before identifying, photographing, filming, interviewing, or publishing material about a child. Content must preserve dignity, avoid unnecessary identifying details, and never place a child at foreseeable risk. Consent may be limited or withdrawn for future use, subject to lawful production and recordkeeping needs.
5. Online safety
Online sessions should use approved platforms, controlled access, appropriate supervision, and clear communication rules. Children should not be required to publish private contact details. Direct messaging, recording, and sharing of session materials must follow the activity’s consent and safeguarding arrangements.
6. Responding to a concern
Anyone who sees, hears, receives, or suspects a safeguarding concern should:
- Listen calmly and take the child seriously.
- Do not promise secrecy or investigate the allegation personally.
- Record the facts accurately, using the child’s own words where possible.
- Report promptly to the Institute’s designated contact and, where required, the appropriate local child-protection or law-enforcement authority.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services or child-protection authority where the child is located before contacting the Institute.
7. Safer programmes and partners
We assess safeguarding risks, set supervision arrangements, brief personnel, and use proportionate screening or reference checks where appropriate and lawful. Partner churches, schools, venues, and production teams are expected to follow equivalent safeguarding standards.

9. Review
This policy will be reviewed as programmes expand, when laws or good practice change, and after any significant safeguarding incident.
